Virat Kohli geared up for the series against Zimbabwe - Cricket News

India?s right-handed batsman, Virat Kohli is geared up to lead his team in the upcoming limited-overs series against Zimbabwe and feels that inexperience of the squad is not going to be a hurdle.

The Men in Blue have rested a number of senior players for the five-match One Day International (ODI) series against the minnows, including their captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni. In the wicketkeeper/batsman?s absence, Kohli will captain his country.

The cricketer from Delhi is not too fazed by the lack of experience in the squad and feels that the dynamics of the shorter formats of the game do not require experience.

"I don't think experience matters, especially in [the] limited overs game," Kohli said. "You need eleven players who are hungry for success, who are hardworking and whose vision is victory. All fifteen players are strong and it is a strong unit, which is good."

Over the last few months, the Men in Blue have performed exceptionally well at the highest stage of the game, having whitewashed Australia in a four-match Test series at home, winning the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 in England as well as the tri-nation series in the Caribbean.

Kohli, who is one of the most prolific Indian batsmen these days, is delighted with the showings of his team and hopes that they continue in the same vein in future.

While commenting about the chance to captain his country, the stylish batsman revealed that he loves to take the responsibilities on his shoulders.

He added, "If we continue this way, it will be a good time for Indian cricket. It would make a lot of people happy. I always like to lead form the front and set an example for whoever is playing with me or around me. I like taking responsibilities. That is a natural thing for me."

Kohli captained India for most part of the tri-nation tournament in West Indies, which also included Sri Lanka, as Dhoni injured his hamstring in India?s first match of the event. The first ODI of the series against Zimbabwe is going to be played on July 24 at Harare.?
